Case Claims Sunrise Credit Services Illegally Recorded Calls with California Residents

Sunrise Credit Services, Inc. finds itself as the defendant in a proposed class action that alleges it violated California law by recording phone conversations with customers without first receiving consent to do so or providing prior warning. The lawsuit, citing potential violations of the California Invasion of Privacy Act, claims Sunrise Credit Services called the plaintiff in April 2017 to discuss an alleged debt, with the conversation lasting around two minutes. According to the case, at no point did the defendant advise the plaintiff that the conversation was being recorded, nor did the San Diego woman consent to being recorded. The lawsuit claims this scenario played out again at least four more times between April and August 2017.
