Inotiv Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation

Inotiv Security Incident: What Happened?
Inotiv, Inc., a contract research organization based in Lafayette, Indiana, reported a cybersecurity incident to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on August 18, 2025. The Inotiv data breach, discovered on August 8, 2025, involved unauthorized access and encryption of certain systems by a threat actor, according to the SEC filing. Inotiv has engaged cybersecurity specialists and notified law enforcement, and an investigation into the effects and scope of the breach is ongoing.
The Qilin ransomware gang reportedly claimed responsibility for the Inotiv cyberattack, alleging to have stolen approximately 162,000 files totaling 176GB. According to BleepingComputer.com, samples of the stolen data were posted on the threat actor's leak site.
