Deaconess Security Incident: What Happened?

Deaconess Health System, a healthcare network operating in Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois, has reported a data breach linked to a December 2025 security incident at third-party data analytics and archiving company, Aesto Health.

A notice posted to the Deaconess website regarding the Aesto Health breach states that the incident may have impacted names, dates of birth, medical information, driver's license numbers, financial account numbers, health insurance information, taxpayer identification numbers, Social Security numbers and other government identification numbers. The degree of information exposed varied per individual.

A report regarding the Deaconess Health System data breach was also submitted to the Texas Attorney General's Office on August 7, 2026.

Deaconess had previously suffered a data breach involving information it had shared with MediCopy, a third-party vendor, in early 2026.
