Baylor Genetics Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation

As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who had their information exposed in the incident, including those who received notice of the Baylor Genetics data breach or otherwise believe they are affected.

Baylor Genetics Security Incident: What Happened?

Baylor Genetics, a Texas-based genetic testing and diagnostic laboratory affiliated with the Baylor College of Medicine, has reported a data breach involving sensitive patient and employee information.

A notice posted to its website states that Baylor Genetics identified suspicious activity within a portion of its information technology environment on or around June 15, 2026. Following an investigation with independent cybersecurity and digital forensic specialists, the company determined that between June 11 and 17, an unauthorized party accessed portions of its network and data stored within.

After reviewing the affected data, Baylor Genetics concluded around July 30 that the incident potentially exposed patient dates of birth, medical testing information, test results, health insurance information and, for some patients, Social Security numbers. The Baylor Genetics data breach may have also impacted the Social Security numbers, government-issued identification numbers and financial account information of certain current and former employees.

Following a data review, Baylor Genetics began sending notices to potentially impacted individuals, a sample of which is shown below.

The Baylor Genetics data breach was also reported to the Vermont Attorney General's Office on August 14, 2026.
