Oasis Composite Decking Linked to Cracking, Warping

Consumers who own property installed with Oasis Composite Deck and Rail may be entitled to compensation. It has been alleged that the decking is defective and prone to a number of problems including severe warping, cracking and discoloration. Composite Decking Problems

An Oasis decking class action has been filed by a Massachusetts resident who purchased the product to build a deck for his home in summer 2006. According to the suit, the man purchased the composite decking believing it to be a quality product free from defects. Approximately one year after installation, the plaintiff began noticing discoloration and early signs of cracking, which continued to worsen over the next several years. As the cracking became more severe, the composite decking warped and separated as if the layers were coming apart, the Oasis decking lawsuit claims.

Furthermore, the plaintiff alleges that water wicks into the decking material through cracks which have formed in the boards, causing further degradation to the decking. According to the Oasis composite decking class action, deterioration of the decking may pose a safety hazard, as the severity and nature of the cracking may lead to structural instability or uneven walking surfaces. Additionally, as a result of the Oasis composite decking degradation, the railing may not be able to function as intended in preventing occupants from falling off the deck, the suit claims.

Oasis Decking Class Action Lawsuit

The Oasis composite decking class action lawsuit makes a number of allegations surrounding the decking. It claims that Ply Gem Holdings Inc. and Mastic Home Exteriors Inc. (formerly Alcoa Home Exteriors) knew or should have known that the Oasis Decking is defective and susceptible to premature failure. Furthermore, according to the Oasis composite decking lawsuit, the defendants failed to properly design, develop, test and manufacture this product.
