Were You Enrolled in Unwanted Wells Fargo Products? The first story in this issue delves into reports that some Wells Fargo customers have been signed up for products and programs that they never authorized or even wanted – and how those affected may be able to take action. Then, if you’re a Facebook user who downloaded Call of Duty: Mobile and made an in-app purchase within the past two years, you may be owed up to $2,500. Learn why that may be the case below. Also down below, you’ll find details on potentially illegal auto-renewal practices from NordVPN (and affiliated services) and how Tenet Healthcare may be illegally sharing patient information with Facebook and Google via its hospital websites. And, as always, we have the latest class action settlements that you may be able to claim. - Ty Armstrong, Writer/Community Manager | No one wants to pay for something they don’t want or need – which is why some current and former Wells Fargo customers have raised concerns recently. Specifically, consumers have been reporting that the bank has sent letters stating that “a recent review” indicated that they were enrolled in products and programs they never signed up for. In light of this, attorneys working with ClassAction.org are now gathering people who received these letters to take legal action against Wells Fargo for associated fees, costs and more. If you received one of these letters stating that you were signed up for a financial product you never authorized, learn more here. | Call of Duty: Mobile - Privacy Violations? Attorneys have reason to believe that Activision, the publisher behind Call of Duty and its mobile app, may have violated a federal law known as the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA) and are now gathering 18+ players to take action. Specifically, the attorneys suspect that the Call of Duty: Mobile game may have used a tracking tool to secretly transmit players’ information to Facebook for advertising purposes. The app may have shared data about players’ interactions with the game along with their Facebook IDs, which can be used to match users’ in-game activities to their individual Facebook profiles. If you’re a Facebook user who downloaded Call of Duty: Mobile and made an in-app purchase within the past two years, you can learn more on our VPPA page. | New Data Breach Investigations | | Got a data breach notice? | ~ In Other News ~ Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are investigating whether the companies behind NordVPN and other affiliated services may have run afoul of state auto-renewal laws. Specifically, they’re looking into whether NordVPN, NordPass, NordLocker and NordLayer customers were properly informed that their subscriptions would renew automatically and whether it was made overly difficult for them to cancel. A class action lawsuit could be filed to help customers get back some of the money they spent on their subscriptions and potentially force the companies to change their business practices. If you purchased a subscription to NordVPN, NordPass, NordLocker or NordLayer and it automatically renewed, you may be able to help get a lawsuit started. You can find the details here. | An ongoing investigation is looking to determine whether a class action lawsuit can be filed against Tenet Healthcare Corporation, one of the largest for-profit healthcare systems in the country, over concerns that it may have shared certain patients’ private information without permission. Specifically, attorneys have reason to believe Tenet may have used online tracking tools that secretly collected data about patients as they interacted with its hospital websites and then transmitted this information to Facebook and Google, potentially revealing information about symptoms and conditions. Several California hospitals are affected – and you can find the list here, along with the details of the investigation as it stands. | ~ Forward to a friend ~
