Universal Plant Services Security Incident: What Happened?
Universal Plant Services, an industrial and energy equipment servicer operating across the United States, has reported a data breach involving sensitive information.
According to a sample notice letter sent to affected individuals, as seen below, the company became aware of unauthorized activity in its computer network on June 12, 2026. Following an investigation with forensic specialists, Universal Plant Services determined that an unauthorized individual accessed data within its network between June 8 and June 12 of that year.
After completing a review of the impacted data, Universal Plant Services determined on July 12 that the incident potentially exposed names, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers and financial account information. The degree of information exposed varied per individual.
The Universal Plant Services data breach was also reported to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on August 12, 2026.
