Trocaire College, a private institution in Buffalo, New York, has reported a data security incident involving potential unauthorized access to its network. On March 13, 2025, the college detected unusual activity and engaged independent cybersecurity experts to investigate. The findings revealed that certain files may have been accessed without permission between March 12 and March 13, 2025.
A review of the affected files concluded on December 4, 2025, and Trocaire College is now notifying individuals whose data may have been involved. A letter submitted to the Maine Attorney General's Office indicates that names, Social Security numbers, passport numbers and driver's license/state ID numbers may have been among the information compromised in the Trocaire College data breach, which reportedly affected 23,436 individuals.
