Quest Diagnostics Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Quest Diagnostics data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who believe their information may have been put at risk, including Quest Diagnostics employees and individuals who have used its services.
Quest Diagnostics Security Incident: What Happened?
Quest Diagnostics, one of the nation's largest clinical laboratories and testing companies, has reported a data breach in a Form 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on October 22, 2026.
According to the SEC filing, Quest Diagnostics learned on October 21 of unauthorized access to its Quanum LSM system, which its clients use to place test orders, as well as receive and search for test results. The company then initiated its cybersecurity response measures to contain the activity and assess its nature and impact.
While the investigation is ongoing, Quest Diagnostics has announced that the unauthorized party may have accessed certain patient records. However, the incident had no impact on the company's business operations or its ability to serve patients.
At the time this post was made, no additional information was available about the scope or nature of the Quest Diagnostics data breach.
Quest Diagnostics, along with several other clinical diagnostics companies, previously faced class action lawsuits after a 2018—2019 data breach at billing collections firm American Medical Collection Agency exposed information of millions of laboratory patients.
What You Can Do After the Quest Diagnostics Data Breach
