Planet 13 Allegedly Impacted by IDScan.net Security Incident
Las Vegas cannabis dispensary Planet 13 may have been impacted by a cyberattack involving a third-party identity verification vendor, IDScan.net.
After becoming aware on September 1, 2026 that certain information may have been accessed without authorization, IDScan.net began investigating with the help of outside specialists. The identity verification platform determined by September 4 that certain customer data stored in their accounts in the company cloud might have been accessed and/or copied.
The IDScan.net data breach may have exposed information provided to the platform by clients, which reportedly include Planet 13. According to a notice posted to the IDScan.net website, the incident potentially impacted individuals’ names, driver's license numbers and other government-issued ID numbers.
Reports suggest that in early September 2026, dark web marketplace Nexus was purportedly selling digital scans of identity documents belonging to more than 170 million people across the United States and Canada. The images, apparently sourced from IDScan.net, included millions of driver’s licenses, ID cards, travel documents and international IDs, as well as more than 500,000 medical cards.

Though compensation is not guaranteed, it’s possible that data breach victims could be owed $100s for potential violations of their privacy rights.
