Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Patelco Credit Union data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Patelco Credit Union has announced it fell victim to a ransomware attack, resulting in unauthorized access to some of its databases. Upon detecting the breach on June 29, 2024, Patelco disabled unauthorized network access and initiated an investigation.
Cybersecurity experts were deployed to assist in the probe, which found that the network breach began on May 23, with database access occurring on June 29. By August 14, Patelco had confirmed that personal data such as names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, dates of birth, and email addresses were included in the exposed files. Both employees and customers are impacted by the Patelco Credit Union data breach, according to an online notice about the incident.
The credit union, which has dozens of branches in the Bay Area and Sacramento area, has reportedly sent emails to affected customers.
