Norway Savings Bank Security Incident: What Happened?
Norway Savings Bank, a mutual banking and financial services company based in Norway, Maine, has announced a data breach involving third-party vendor Marquis Software Solutions. On August 14, 2025, unauthorized access occurred at Marquis' data environment; Norway Savings Bank's own systems were unaffected. The bank was kept informed by the vendor throughout the incident and worked with cybersecurity experts to identify any compromised customer information.
The investigation, concluding on October 27, 2025, revealed that the Marquis data breach might have exposed names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, tax identification numbers, and financial account information. Norway Savings Asset Management Group accounts were not impacted.
According to a report submitted to the Maine Attorney General's Office, the Norway Savings Bank data breach impacted 51,000 individuals.
