NFI North Security Incident: What Happened?
North American Family Institute, also known as NFI North, has reported a data breach involving personal and protected health information.
According to a notice posted to its website, NFI North detected a security incident involving unauthorized access to its network environment on or around September 6, 2025. Following an investigation with third-party forensic specialists, the nonprofit human services organization determined on July 6, 2026 that certain sensitive information may have been exposed during this incident.
The information potentially impacted by the NFI North data breach varied by individual and included names, dates of birth, addresses, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, financial account information, medical information and health insurance information.
Though the breach was first reported in November 2025, NFI North began sending updated notification letters on August 5 of this year to impacted individuals following the completion of the investigation. A sample is shown below.
