McLaren Health Care Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the McLaren Health Care data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
McLaren Health Care Security Incident: What Happened?
McLaren Health Care, based in Grand Blanc, Michigan, is alerting individuals about a data breach that exposed the personal information of 743,131 individuals. The organization, which runs 12 hospitals across Michigan, numerous outpatient centers, a large physician network, health insurance plans, and Michigan’s largest network of cancer centers led by the Karmanos Cancer Institute, discovered suspicious activity on its computer systems in early August 2024. An investigation revealed that an international ransomware group accessed the McLaren Health Care and Karmanos Cancer Institute network from July 17 to August 3, 2024.
After collaborating with forensic specialists, McLaren Health Care learned that files containing names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, medical details, and health insurance information were accessed without authorization. Written notifications to individuals affected by the McLaren Health Care data breach began around June 20, 2025.
