According to an August 22, 2026 post on dark web security blog HookPhish, ransomware group Coinbase Cartel was behind the suspected attack, which is estimated to have occurred the same day.
Ransomware.live, another dark web monitoring site, similarly reported that Coinbase Cartel claimed to be responsible for an attack on the financing company.
At the time this post was made, no additional information was available about the scope or nature of the unconfirmed Longhorn Investments data breach.
Longhorn Investments had previously reported an unrelated data breach in 2022 involving sensitive information.
