HCA Healthcare Security Incident: What Happened?
HCA Healthcare, a nationwide operator of hospitals and medical facilities, has disclosed a data breach involving sensitive employee information.
According to a sample notification letter sent to affected individuals, seen below, an unauthorized party accessed the HCA Global Human Resources website on February 23, 2026 and changed the direct deposit information for some employees through fake HCA authentication portals.
Upon learning of the incident, HCA Healthcare engaged in an investigation and began notifying employees whose information may have been exposed.
Information impacted by the HCA Healthcare data breach included names, employee identification numbers, employee 3-4 IDs, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, email addresses, and checking account and routing numbers. The total number of individuals impacted by the breach has not been publicly disclosed.
The incident was also reported to the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office on July 27, 2026.
