FinWise Bank Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the FinWise Bank data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
FinWise Bank Security Incident: What Happened?
Utah-based FinWise Bank has disclosed a data breach involving unauthorized access by a former employee after their employment had ended. The incident, which began on May 31, 2024, also affected data associated with American First Finance, with whom FinWise partners to offer installment loans. FinWise noted that affected individuals may include those who had or applied for a FinWise installment loan, a lease-to-own account, or a retail installment sales agreement account with American First Finance.
An investigation into the FinWise data breach revealed that personal information might have been accessed or extracted. According to a report provided to the Texas Attorney General, the exposed data may include names, addresses, Social Security numbers and dates of birth.
American First Finance reported that 689,000 were affected, with notifications being sent on July 29, 2025.
