Compex Legal Services Inc., a provider of record retrieval and litigation support services for insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and law firms, has reported a data breach potentially impacting the privacy of certain individuals' information. The breach was discovered on April 17, 2024, when suspicious activity was detected on Compex's network. An investigation, assisted by third-party cybersecurity experts, revealed that unauthorized access to the company's network began on April 9, 2024 and that certain files were acquired by an unidentified actor.
The information exposed in the Compex Legal Services data breach may include individuals' names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, medical diagnoses and treatment information, medical record numbers, and health insurance details. Compex is currently reviewing the impacted data to identify affected individuals and plans to notify them through mailed letters, according to the company's online data breach notice.
