Coastal Carolina Health Care Security Incident: What Happened?
Coastal Carolina Health Care (CCHC) has confirmed that an unauthorized party accessed and acquired sensitive information from its systems.
According to a letter submitted to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, CCHC detected unusual system activity on March 28, 2025. They secured their network and hired an independent cybersecurity firm to investigate, concluding that unauthorized access to personal and protected health information had occurred between March 21 and March 27.
By February 26, 2026, a third-party vendor concluded that the information compromised in the Coastal Carolina Health Care data breach potentially included names and Social Security numbers. CCHC is notifying affected individuals by mail (sample notice pictured below).
CCHC offers primary and specialty care services, as well as an urgent care, in Craven, Pamlico, and Carteret Counties in North Carolina.
