Ascent Security Incident: What Happened?
Ascent Global Logistics, a Michigan-based shipping and logistics company with global operations, has reported a data breach involving sensitive personal information.
According to a sample notice sent to affected individuals, which can be seen below, Ascent was alerted to suspicious activity in an employee's Microsoft account on May 22, 2026. Following an investigation with cybersecurity experts, the company determined that an unauthorized third party accessed a user account and downloaded certain files between May 8 and 9, 2026.
An August 21, 2026 report filed with the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation states that the Ascent Global Logistics data breach impacted Social Security numbers, medical records, financial accounts, driver's licenses and credit/debit numbers. The aforementioned notice discloses that names may have also been exposed.
