AnMed Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation

Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the AnMed data breach.

As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who believe their information was exposed in the incident, including current and former AnMed patients.

AnMed Security Incident: What Happened?

AnMed, a healthcare system operating in Georgia and South Carolina, has confirmed the exfiltration of patient data during a previously reported July 2026 cyberattack that disrupted service operations at multiple locations.

According to an August 27, 2026 notice posted on its website, AnMed learned that a computer virus was used to lock access to files stored on its computer network on July 26 of that same year. After working with a cybersecurity team to investigate the incident and restore its systems, AnMed determined that certain files within its computer network had been copied without permission.

Although the AnMed data breach did not affect patients' electronic health records, which are stored in a separate cloud environment, certain locally stored files related to patient care may have been exposed. These files may have included patient names, demographic information (such as addresses, contact information, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's licenses and other government-issued identifiers), diagnoses, conditions and treatment-related information, lab results, medications, health insurance claims information, health insurance subscriber ID numbers, financial account numbers and payment card numbers.

AnMed's review of the affected files is ongoing, and the company intends to send direct notices to impacted patients once the process is complete.
