Alera Group Security Incident: What Happened?
On May 21, 2025, Alera Group, Inc., a national insurance and financial services firm, announced a data breach involving potential unauthorized access to personal information from its network. The Alera Group data breach occurred between July 19 and August 4, 2024. The company discovered the breach in August 2024 and initiated an investigation to assess whether sensitive information was compromised and to identify affected individuals.
The compromised data varies by individual and may include names, addresses, demographic details, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, financial account information, government-issued IDs, medical details, and insurance data, among others. Alera Group is notifying those potentially impacted, acting as an employer, service provider, and on behalf of its clients and partners.
The breach reportedly affected 10,874 individuals.
