Advantage Home Health Care Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation

Advantage Home Health Care Security Incident: What Happened?

Advantage Home Health Care (AHHC), an in-home care provider serving 46 Indiana counties, has reported a data breach that may have exposed sensitive information.

According to a notice posted to its website, Advantage Home Health Care became aware of a security incident involving unauthorized access to one of its computer servers on June 16, 2026. Following an investigation with security and forensic specialists, the company determined that an unauthorized party was able to acquire documents with patient and employee information between June 9 and 16.

Patient information that may have been exposed in the AHHC data breach included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, addresses, phone numbers and information about medical conditions and care received.

For current and former employees, the incident may have affected names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, addresses, phone numbers and employment-related information. Health insurance, plan enrollment, claims, healthcare provider, and health benefits information may have also been exposed for employees who are or were enrolled in the Advantage Home Health Care employee health plan.

The Advantage Home Health Care data breach may have also exposed financial accounts, per an August 25 report submitted to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation.

Advantage Home Health Care has started to send sample notification letters to individuals potentially affected by the incident; a sample is shown below.

Prior to the official disclosure, ransomware group TheGentlemen claimed it was responsible for an attack on Advantage Home Health Care, according to a July 17, 2026 post on cybersecurity blog HookPhish.
