Abbott Laboratories Employees Credit Union (ALEC) has announced a security breach involving unauthorized access to an employee email account, potentially compromising personal information of approximately 36,044 individuals. The incident was discovered after the unauthorized access occurred on August 2, 2024.
By September 23, 2024, it was confirmed that the Abbott Laboratories Employees Credit Union data breach exposed certain personal data, with a report submitted to the Texas Attorney General's Office stating that names, addresses, dates of birth, driver's license numbers, government-issued ID numbers, financial information and Social Security numbers may have been compromised.
