KnitWell Emails: What’s Going On?
Attorneys are investigating whether legal action can be taken against these retailers for sending potentially deceptive sales emails. Specifically, the attorneys suspect the apparel companies could be violating Washington and Maryland law by promoting “limited time” deals that are regularly extended, leading customers to feel a false sense of urgency.
How Could Legal Action Help?
If successful, a class action lawsuit or mass arbitration could force the retailers to change their advertising practices and help customers recover money for any misleading emails they received. Under Washington’s Commercial Electronic Mail Act (CEMA) and Maryland’s Commercial Code, recipients could be owed up to $500 for emails that violate the law.
