Tombigbee Healthcare Authority, operating as Whitfield Regional Hospital, has disclosed a data breach that may have affected sensitive information.
According to a notice posted on the Whitfield Regional Hospital website, the Alabama-based hospital detected unauthorized access to its network on or around June 8, 2025 that potentially exposed certain data in its care. Following an investigation with external cybersecurity professionals, Whitfield Regional Hospital determined on June 26, 2026 that the impacted files may have included first and last names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account information, medical information and health insurance information.
The Whitfield Regional Hospital data breach was also reported to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on July 17, 2026.
The same day, the hospital began to notify individuals whose information was potentially impacted by the breach.
