Washington Gastroenterology Security Incident: What Happened?
Washington Gastroenterology, a provider of digestive health care with 19 locations across Washington, including Tacoma, Bellevue, and Bainbridge Island, is notifying individuals about a data breach that might have compromised personal information. On March 10, 2025, the organization discovered unauthorized access to certain data by an unknown third party.
It was revealed that the Washington Gastroenterology data breach potentially exposed names, medical information and Social Security numbers. On May 23, 2025, Washington Gastroenterology started notifying affected individuals, although the investigation was ongoing. Recently, more individuals were identified as potentially impacted, and the company is now sending additional notices. A report submitted to the Texas Attorney General's Office indicates that addresses may have also been impacted.
