VITAS Hospice Services, LLC, a Florida-based provider of hospice and palliative care across the country, has reported a significant data breach. On October 24, 2025, the company discovered that an unauthorized party compromised a vendor's account to access VITAS's systems between September 21 and October 27, 2025. In response, VITAS Hospice Services secured its systems, initiated an internal investigation, and sought assistance from external experts.
The unauthorized party accessed and potentially downloaded sensitive information of current and former patients. This data could include names, addresses, dates of birth, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, next of kin details, medical and treatment information, insurance data, and other personal information.
Letters are now being sent to those affected by the VITAS data breach.
