Tri-Century Eye Care Security Incident: What Happened?
Tri Century Eye Care, P.C., which provides medical and surgical eye care across five offices in eastern Pennsylvania, has reported a data breach that may have compromised sensitive data belonging to employees and patients. On September 3, 2025, the company detected unusual activity within its network, leading to an investigation with cybersecurity experts. By September 19, 2025, it was revealed that an unknown actor had obtained unauthorized access to the network and acquired files that contained personal and protected health information. The Tri-Century Eye Care data breach did not impact the provider's current electronic medical records system.
The information potentially accessed includes names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, medical and health data, treatment and diagnostic information, health insurance details, billing or payment information and financial information.
According to a report provided to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Tri-Century Eye Care data breach affected approximately 200,000 individuals.
