Targus Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Targus data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
In a recent cybersecurity incident, Targus, a well-known retailer of computer accessories, experienced unauthorized access to sensitive data, with the breach initially occurring around April 6, 2024. After engaging cybersecurity experts to assist with an investigation, Targus confirmed on May 9, 2024, that certain data had been compromised. It was not until October 9, 2024, however, that the company identified the specific personal information involved, which included names and Social Security numbers. Targus took steps to notify affected individuals by October 24, 2024.
According to Cybernews.com, the emerging Red Ransomware gang claimed responsibility for the Targus data breach and posted details about the attack on its dark web leak site.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Targus to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
