Swift Institute Security Incident: What Happened?
James J. Lynch, MD Ltd., which does business as Swift Institute, is providing notice of a data security incident that may have impacted personal and medical information.
Swift Institute, an orthopedic and spine neurosurgery practice with locations across northern Nevada, first detected suspicious activity in its computer network on January 30, 2025. The medical provider launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party forensic experts, which determined that certain files may have been copied by an unauthorized actor in connection with the incident.
According to a notice posted on the practice’s website, a review of the affected information, concluded on December 4, 2025, found that the incident may have exposed individuals’ names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state ID card numbers, dates of birth, financial account and payment card details, medical data, health insurance information, and digital signatures.
Those whose information was impacted by the Swift Institute data breach are being notified by mail.
