Student Transportation of America Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Student Transportation of America data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Student Transportation of America (STA), a New Jersey-based school bus contractor, has disclosed a data breach incident that potentially affected the personal information of 5,016 individuals. On January 24, 2024, suspicious activity was detected in an employee’s email account, prompting an investigation with the help of third-party forensic specialists. It was determined that unauthorized access had been gained to the email accounts of certain STA employees. A review of these accounts, completed on July 15, 2024, revealed that sensitive personal information may have been compromised.
According to a notice provided to the Maine Attorney General's Office, the Student Transportation of America data breach occurred on January 17, 2024 and exposed consumers' names and Social Security numbers.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Student Transportation of America to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
