Southern Illinois Dermatology Security Incident: What Happened?
Southern Illinois Dermatology, a medical and cosmetic dermatology practice with 13 locations in rural Southern Illinois, has reported a cybersecurity incident. A notice posted on the company’s website states that on November 28, 2025, the practice identified unusual activity within its network, prompting the company to engage third-party cybersecurity professionals to investigate.
The investigation found that unauthorized access potentially exposed personal and protected health information, including names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, contact details, and medical record numbers.
Starting April 2, 2026, the practice began notifying those whose information may have been compromised in the Southern Illinois Dermatology data breach (sample notification letter pictured below).
