Sedgebrook Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Sedgebrook data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Sedgebrook Security Incident: What Happened?
Sedgebrook OpCo SL VII LLC, operator of a senior living community in Lincolnshire, Illinois, recently experienced a data breach that may have compromised personal information. The incident was detected on May 5, 2025, when suspicious activity was observed within Sedgebrook's computer network. In response, Sedgebrook launched an internal investigation, informed law enforcement and engaged a forensic security firm to aid in the investigation.
The inquiry into the Sedgebrook data breach revealed that an unauthorized third party accessed the network from May 4 to May 5, 2025, encrypting and possibly acquiring certain files. By August 26, 2025, Sedgebrook confirmed these files contained personal details such as names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account numbers, treatment information, medical record numbers and health insurance details.
On October 24, 2025, Sedgebrook began notifying affected individuals by mail, provided they had a valid mailing address.
