According to an August 14, 2026 post on dark web monitoring site Ransomware.live, hacker group Storm was behind the suspected attack on the Kentucky practice, which was estimated to have occurred three days prior.
DeXpose, another cybersecurity platform, similarly stated that Storm claimed to be responsible for an attack on Rood & Riddle.
At the time this post was made, no additional information was available about the scope or nature of the unconfirmed Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital data breach.
Founded in 1986, Rood & Riddle is one of the main care facilities for thoroughbreds competing in major equine events, with additional locations in New York and Florida.
