Pacific Pulmonary Medical Group Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the reported Pacific Pulmonary Medical Group data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Reports have surfaced that Pacific Pulmonary Medical Group (PPMG) has suffered a significant data breach. DataBreaches.net reported that ransomware group Everest Team added the California healthcare provider to its dark web leak site on October 25, 2024.
According to the report, the Pacific Pulmonary Medical Group data breach exposed unencrypted personal and protected health information spanning from 2021 to 2024. The stolen data reportedly included over 150 image files of patients' primary and secondary insurance cards, and in some cases, driver’s licenses. DataBreaches.net wrote that most of the data was comprised of files containing numerous fields with patients' sensitive information, including names, contact details, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, smoking status, gender, race, ethnicity and emergency contact details. The files also included protected health information such as patient IDs, appointment details, insurance data, and billing information, according to the report.
Pacific Pulmonary Medical Group has not confirmed the incident as of November 23.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Pacific Pulmonary Medical Group to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
