Northwestern Community Services Board, a healthcare provider based in Virginia that offers a variety of behavioral health services, has reported a data breach. According to a notice posted on the company’s website, it discovered unauthorized activity on its computer network on August 8, 2024. An investigation of the incident determined that files containing the protected health information of a limited number of patients may have been accessed. The potentially exposed data includes patient names, medical history and treatment information, health insurance details and financial information.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reports that the Northwestern Community Services Board data breach affected 21,856 individuals.
