New American Funding Security Incident: What Happened?
Mortgage company New American Funding, LLC recently reported a data breach affecting third-party vendor Mobile Notary Zone, which provided notary services to the company. New American Funding learned about the breach on June 6, 2025 and began an internal investigation. Mobile Notary Zone indicated that an unauthorized actor gained access to systems containing consumer data belonging to New American Funding, and some documents may have been taken.
The Mobile Notary Zone data breach potentially exposed sensitive personal and financial information of consumers whose data was provided to the company for notary services in connection with loan closing documents. This could include any information found in the closing documents, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, financial account information and other financial details.
New American Funding says it terminated services with Mobile Notary Zone and emphasized that its own systems were not affected by the data breach.
