Navient Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Navient data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who had their information exposed in the incident, including those who received notice of the Navient data breach or otherwise believe they are affected.
Navient Security Incident: What Happened?
Education financing and loan servicing company Navient Corporation has disclosed a third-party data breach in a Form 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on July 2, 2026.
According to the SEC filing, on June 8, Navient was alerted to a ransomware attack affecting some systems of a law firm that provides services to Navient. The company was informed that some of its data, including borrower names, dates of birth, addresses, and Social Security numbers, had been compromised in the third-party Navient data breach.
Navient, whose own systems were not compromised in the breach, plans to notify affected individuals.
What You Can Do After the Navient Data Breach
If your information was exposed in the Navient data breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
