Mercadien Security Incident: What Happened?
Mercadien PC Certified Public Accountants, based in Hamilton, New Jersey, recently reported a data breach that may have affected the personal information of certain individuals. The firm, known for its accounting and advisory services, discovered the incident on November 7, 2025. Mercadien launched an investigation, involved law enforcement, and hired a national cybersecurity firm to assess and mitigate potential impacts.
According to a data breach notice posted to Mercadien’s website, the breached information may include names, addresses, dates of birth, government ID numbers, Social Security numbers, and financial account details. For some, usernames, passwords, IRS pin numbers, and payment card information may also be compromised.
The Mercadien data breach was first reported to the Maine Attorney General and Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation in late December 2025.
