Legacy Treatment Services Security Incident: What Happened?
On August 22, 2025, Legacy Treatment Services, Inc. and Community Treatment Solutions reported a data breach that potentially exposed personal and health information. In a notice posted online about the Legacy Treatment Services data breach, the New Jersey-based company reported that it experienced a cybersecurity incident that hampered network connectivity. After an investigation and document review, it was determined on July 18, 2025 that personal data was accessed and acquired by an unauthorized individual. The data breach reportedly took place between October 6 and October 11, 2024.
Information potentially exposed in the incident includes names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, contact information, payment card and financial account details, medical information, health insurance information, driver's license and state ID numbers, and biometric data. On August 22, 2025, the company began mailing letters to affected individuals provided contact information was available. Approximately 41,826 people are impacted by the Legacy Treatment Services data breach.
With locations across New Jersey, Legacy provides, among a variety of other services, treatment for anxiety, depression, addiction, and ADHD. Community Treatment Solutions, specifically, works with youth who are at risk for out of community placement.
