Kaiser Permanente Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Kaiser Permanente data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
In a recent data breach incident, unauthorized access to two Kaiser Permanente email accounts occurred in August and September 2024. The breach was discovered on September 3, 2024, when the unauthorized access was terminated and an investigation commenced. The personal information potentially exposed in the Kaiser Permanente data breach includes individuals' names, dates of birth, medical record numbers, and medical information.
A report submitted to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services by Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, a branch of Kaiser Permanente that operates medical centers, indicates that 44,600 individuals were affected by the data breach.
Notably, the August/September Kaiser Permanente data breach is separate from an earlier incident reported in April 2024 that impacted 13.4 million individuals.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Kaiser Permanente to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
