Hunter Health Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Hunter Health data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Hunter Health Security Incident: What Happened?
Hunter Health Clinic, based in Wichita, Kansas, detected unauthorized access to an employee’s email account around September 30, 2024. Upon discovery, the healthcare provider secured the account and began an investigation with external cybersecurity experts. On May 1, 2025, it was confirmed that, from September 27 to September 30, 2024, files containing protected health and personal information may have been accessed.
The data potentially exposed in the Hunter Health data breach includes names; birth dates; Social Security numbers; driver's license, state ID and other government ID numbers; financial account information; medical information; and health insurance details. Hunter Health Clinic, which offers integrated healthcare services covering medical, dental, and behavioral health needs, began notifying affected individuals on May 15, 2025. A report submitted to the Maine Attorney General's Office indicates that 31,778 people are affected by the data breach.
