HealthStream Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation

HealthStream Security Incident: What Happened?
HealthStream, a major software solutions provider for healthcare organizations, has disclosed a data breach in a Form 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on July 29, 2026.
According to the SEC filing, the company recently detected a cybersecurity incident in which an unauthorized party gained access to certain files on its corporate file servers.
HealthStream's investigation into the incident, conducted with cybersecurity and forensic specialists, has so far determined that certain employee information and billing information for some customers and vendors was accessed and potentially exfiltrated during the breach. The company also announced that approximately 75 credentialing customers had been notified of the incident, as some of their data had been copied to the corporate file servers for conversion, troubleshooting and analytics purposes.
The investigation into the HealthStream data breach is ongoing, but the company does not believe any protected health information or customer-facing systems were compromised.
