Healthcare Highways Security Incident: What Happened?
Healthcare Highways, a medical provider network and health plan solutions company, has reported a data breach that may have exposed sensitive information.
According to an October 2, 2026 notice posted to its website, Healthcare Highways identified suspicious activity in its network on August 4 of the same year. An investigation into the incident, while ongoing, has so far revealed that certain information on the company's network was accessed and copied by an unauthorized user between July 22 and July 27, 2026.
Information that may have been compromised in the Healthcare Highways data breach, varying by individual, includes names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, dates of service, patient ID numbers, procedure codes, procedure costs, procedure and provider information, diagnoses, health insurance information, claim information and data related to the payment of healthcare services.
The incident also affected driver's license numbers and financial information, per an October 6, 2026 report filed with the Texas Attorney General's Office.
Healthcare Highways is currently reviewing the affected data to determine who may have been impacted by the incident and will provide notice to those individuals once the review is complete.
Prior to the official disclosure, hacker group Chaos claimed to be responsible for an attack that allegedly involved 235 gigabytes of sensitive company and client records, according to an August 4, 2026 post on cybersecurity blog HookPhish.
