Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the data breach affecting Farmers Insurance.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Farmers Insurance Security Incident: What Happened?
Farmers Insurance Exchange and Farmers Group, Inc., along with their subsidiaries and affiliates, have confirmed a data breach affecting 1,071,172 individuals. The breach occurred when an unauthorized actor accessed a third-party vendor's database containing Farmers customer information. The vendor reported the potential data breach to Farmers Insurance on May 30, 2025, and an investigation was initiated, revealing that the unauthorized access occurred on May 29.
By July 24, it was determined that personal data, including names, addresses, dates of birth, driver's license numbers, and the last four digits of Social Security numbers, was compromised. Notifications to affected individuals were sent beginning August 22, 2025.
Although Farmers Insurance did not disclose the identity of the third-party vendor, DataBreaches.net reportedly confirmed that the breach was part of a larger campaign by hacker groups ShinyHunters and Scattered Spider involving software company Salesforce.
