Emergency Medical Services Authority Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Emergency Medical Services Authority data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA), Oklahoma's largest provider of pre-hospital emergency care, has reported to the Department of Health and Human Services that 611,743 patients may have had their personal information exposed in a data breach.
On February 13, 2024, suspicious activity was detected in the company's IT network, according to EMSA's data breach notice. An investigation was launched and revealed that an unauthorized entity had infiltrated the network and accessed files containing data related to specific EMSA patients. The compromised information varied by individual but may have included details such as names, addresses, dates of birth, dates of service, and, in some cases, primary care provider names and/or Social Security numbers.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Emergency Medical Services Authority to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
