El Dorado Irrigation District Security Incident: What Happened?
El Dorado Irrigation District, a water utility serving Northern California's El Dorado County, has reported that personal information may have been exposed in a data breach at its third-party vendor, Nationwide Recovery Services (NRS). The Nationwide Recovery Services data breach resulted in unauthorized access to the debt collector's network between July 5 and July 11, 2024, potentially affecting personal data of individuals associated with El Dorado Irrigation District.
The compromised information may include names, addresses, Social Security numbers, and birth dates.
The incident was confined to NRS systems, leaving El Dorado Irrigation District's systems unaffected. Upon learning about the data breach on March 14, 2025, El Dorado Irrigation District worked to understand the scope of the incident. Affected individuals were mailed notice of the breach following an update from NRS received on April 23, 2025.
