Downriver Pediatric Associates Security Incident: What Happened?
Downriver Pediatric Associates, a multispecialty pediatric care practice in Michigan, reported a data breach that may have exposed sensitive patient information.
An October 8, 2026 notice posted to its website states that Technical Solutions Group (TSG), an IT services company Downriver previously used to host its electronic health records systems, informed the healthcare provider that it experienced a cyberattack in June. During the attack, hackers encrypted information on TSG's systems pertaining to its clients and claimed to have exfiltrated the data therein.
On September 16, TSG notified Downriver Pediatric Associates that it was unable to recover the data that it hosted on behalf of the healthcare provider, nor was it able to determine what specific information may have been accessed by the hackers.
The files potentially involved in the Downriver Pediatric Associates data breach contained information that varied by individual, but may have included names, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, dates of birth, treating physicians, dates of service, medication information, insurance information and treatment/diagnostic information.
On October 8, Downriver began mailing notification letters to potentially affected individuals whose information was maintained in the electronic health record system hosted by TSG.
