Cove Risk Services Security Incident: What Happened?
Cove Risk Services, LLC, an administrator for self-insurance groups that provide worker's compensation coverage to businesses in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, recently reported a data breach after experiencing a network disruption on May 5, 2025. The breach, which involved unauthorized access to the company's systems around May 3, potentially exposed sensitive information such as names, birth dates, driver’s license/state ID numbers, health insurance data, medical information, financial details, passport numbers and Social Security numbers.
The company launched an investigation with third-party specialists and completed a review of the affected data by November 10, 2025. A notice provided to the Maine attorney general indicates that 49,385 individuals were affected by the Cove Risk Services data breach.
